Abstract

Aim: Approximately 96 out of every 1000 children born die worldwide, due to infectious diseases of gastrointestinal and respiratory origin. In Ecuador, 23.2% of all infant deaths in 2018, were due to infectious diseases. Material and method: In the present study, a descriptive research approach was adopted with the objective of examining the specific characteristics of the study population, made up of 20 families with children under 5 years of age who attended the Tulcán Health Center 8 due to infectious diseases. The importance of this study lies in its contribution to scientific knowledge about the situation of infectious diseases in children under 5 years of age in Tulcan Health Center 8. Statistics and Result: It seeks to guide health policies and programs aimed at prevention, early detection and adequate treatment of these diseases.
