Abstract
Background: Effective postoperative care in endodontics is contingent on patient’s comprehension and adherence to prescribed instructions. This study aims to assess patient understanding and adherence levels following endodontic procedures, identifying potential areas for improvement in patient education.
Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed, involving 500 patients who recently underwent endodontic interventions. A stratified random sampling approach ensured demographic diversity. Data were collected through structured questionnaires, assessing patient comprehension scores, adherence behaviors, and factors influencing satisfaction. Statistical analyses included descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, and regression analyses.
Results: The overall comprehension score was 8.5 ± 1.2, and the adherence behavior score was 7.2 ± 1.5. Younger age groups exhibited slightly higher scores. Patient satisfaction correlated positively with adherence. Common barriers included forgetfulness (17%) and lack of clarity in instructions (9%).
Conclusion: In conclusion, this study sheds light on the intricate relationship between patient comprehension, adherence, and overall satisfaction in the context of endodontic postoperative care.
