Abstract

Over the past decades, the world helplessly witnessed the increasing unpredictability, in fact ‘Erratic chaos of the environmental phenomena. Nature is avenging the destruction done to it. Ecological chaos and disorder have become the norm due to misuse of the Earth’s resources. As environmental consciousness grows, writers have begun to responsibly portray the man-nature relationship in texts.

Similar or Animal Studies, Green Cultural studies, Ecofeminism, ecocriticism is gaining popularity for its discerning consciousness of the environment in relation to culture. Ecocriticism is a new movement which aims at pointing out the dangers of man’s anthropocentric dominion of Nature.

This Paper seeks to explore the ecocritical perspectives reflected in the novel Tivolem and the eco-consciousness of Goan resources created by this diasporic Goan novel in order to bring about sustainable eco management.
