Abstract

This research paper utilises the sociological theory of Symbolic Interactionism to examine George R.R. Martin’s A Clash For Kings from a transnational perspective. This paper emphasises the character Brienne of Tarth and her capacity, as per this theoretical framework, to confront and surpass conventional gender norms and societal anticipations. This analysis further explores her navigation of personal identity and interactions within the complex realm of Westeros, considering the impact of transnational dynamics on her trajectory. Westeros is a continent in A Clash for Kings. The study elucidates Brienne’s unwavering endeavour for recognition, her skilful navigation of her identity, and her perceptive evaluation of her position within the esteemed Rainbow Guard amidst various cultural milieus.
