Abstract
According to a UNESCO report from 1996, the use of both modern medicine and medicinal plants is crucial to the maintenance of health in the majority of developing countries. The widespread industrial use of medicinal plants can be traced back to the discovery and development of several drugs, as well as the extraction of chemotherapeutics from these plants and traditionally utilized rural herbal treatments.
